Teams

A team is a set of people sharing nodes, groups and a plan. Everyone has a Personal team, which is only them. Make more teams to work with other people. You can be in as many teams as you like, and switch between them at the top of the sidebar in Dashcat Dashboard (the top bar on a phone). Everything on the Nodes, Groups, Connections and Plan pages belongs to the team you’re looking at.

  • Make a team for each client that pays separately. Each team has its own nodes, people, plan and bill, and a client’s people see only their own team. An IT shop with ten clients has ten teams.
  • Use groups when one bill covers it all. Keep one team and sort its nodes into groups, such as Leeds office or Servers. Groups don’t change who pays or who can see what.

Teams will need a paid plan. They’re free during the preview.

  1. In Dashcat Dashboard, open Team and choose New team, or choose New team in the team switcher.
  2. Give it a name and a handle, such as Acme Dental and @acme-dental. Handles follow the same rules as yours, and no person and team can share one.
  3. Choose Make team. You’re its owner, and the dashboard switches to it.

To move a node into a team, add it there with a new invite link from Add a node. Its pinned cloud key changes, so a node can’t simply be dragged across.

  1. Open Team and, under Invite people, pick Member or Admin.
  2. Choose Make invite link, copy the link and send it to the person. Dashcat shows it only once.
  3. They open it, sign in (or make a free account), and join straight away.

Each link works once, for 7 days. Unused links are listed under the invite, where you can cancel them. To make someone an owner, invite them first, then change their role.

Role Can
Owner Everything an admin can, plus make, change and remove owners
Admin Add and remove nodes, groups, node invites and people; rename the team; change roles between member and admin
Member See the team’s nodes, groups and invites; manage their own AI app connections; add nodes, if the team allows it

To let members add nodes too, an owner or admin ticks Members can add nodes under Team details on the Team page. Members can then make node invite links and cancel their own. Removing nodes, groups and people stays with owners and admins.

A team always has at least one owner. To step down as the last owner, make someone else an owner first.

An owner can choose someone under Owner actions on the Team page and choose Hand over. They become an owner and you become an admin, in one step.

An owner can delete a team under Owner actions: type the team’s handle, such as @acme, and choose Delete team. This removes the team’s nodes, groups, invite links, people and log for good. Everyone in it stays signed in, in their own Personal team. The nodes keep running Dashcat, but your AI apps can’t reach them until they join another team with a new invite link. Your Personal team can’t be deleted.

The bottom of the Team page lists who changed what, newest first: nodes added, renamed or removed, groups, people and roles, invite links, AI apps, and the team’s own settings. Everyone in the team can see it, and nobody can edit or delete it. It records changes made in Dashcat Dashboard; what AI apps do on a node is in that node’s activity log.

Choose Leave next to your own name, or Remove next to someone else’s. A removed person loses access at once, and so do their AI apps, which stop reaching the team’s nodes. They go back to their Personal team. Owners and admins can remove members and admins; only an owner can remove an owner.
